Oasis

In 2257, on the 39th year of its journey perpendicular to the radial axis of the Milky Way, the interstellar probe Sagan detected a massive radiation output blooming within sensor range. In months, the signals of its discovery had reached the Demos shipyards high in orbit around Mars, and an expedition was mounted consisting of the FTL cruiser Tannhauser and five support ships. The Tannhauser group found what appeared to be a perfectly triangular hole in space, through which an unknown star system could be seen. The triangle was over 2 miles per side, and at each apex was a 160’ tall octahedral form made of impenetrable black adamant.

By 2260, the expeditionary fleet had sent the first probes through the gates to the Oasis.
